Our Programs

The Creative Curriculum

Nation’s Capital Child & Family Development implements the Creative Curriculum as the foundation of all learning programs. All of the components of this curriculum fit together and are used in our developmental child care program to facilitate the learning process of our young children.  The philosophy behind the Creative Curriculum is that “children learn by doing”.  Therefore, a key component of the NCCFD program is “Active Learning”.  Staff members facilitate this process through the use of the Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers & Two’s and Creative Curriculum for Preschool in conjunction with the DC Common Core Standards.

Research supports the fact that the early years are the most important years of a child’s development.  During this time, children explore the world around them by using all of their senses.  Furthermore, they learn new skills and progressively accomplish new milestones daily.

“Play is the work of young children” and provides the foundation for academic “school” learning.  It is with this in mind that the staff here at NCCFD achieves the key goals of our chosen curriculum.  Moreover, with the guidance, nurturing, and support of our qualified early childhood educators, you can be assured that your child is getting the care she/he needs during this critical time of their lives, as well as exposure to a variety of learning experiences that are enjoyable and challenging (when appropriate).
