NCCFD’s impact has been significant

as children who have participated in pre-kindergarten programs have excelled in school and many have graduated from college. Parents have improved parenting skills and literacy levels with many achieving home ownership. Parents also have obtained GED diplomas, and returned to school as a result of NCCFD’s family support programs. NCCFD has had extraordinary accomplishments including being the first to operate a Head Start Program in the District of Columbia, the first to operate a federally sponsored child care program, achieving national accreditation, and winning the Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.
